From our previous posts about CNA: Edge – SUPPORT, it’s easy to see we here at Straightaway are diving head first into helping organizations better support their staff. Another way we want to help new CNAs is by giving them more avenues to seek help or get advice they desperately need as they adjust to their new roles within your organization. What was interesting to me after talking with CNAs throughout my time with Straightaway is how many new CNAs are afraid to ask for help, or simply don’t seek help when they need it due to fear of embarrassment or retribution from other more experienced nurses. It’s amazing how many times I heard the phrase, “Nurses eat their young,” throughout the country. But the simple fact is, CNAs were not getting help when they needed, and not getting this help made their work life more difficult, stressful, and unenjoyable. In order to help with this phenomenon, we built our “Reach Out” feature to provide CNAs an avenue to discreetly reach out for help or ask for guidance through our software platform, knowing that their reach out will be immediately delivered to the recipient. Another important reason for our Reach Out feature is how difficult it can be to find time to search for the person you need to ask for help or guidance from can be. CNAs are busy, nurses are busy, so instead of losing valuable time looking for someone, why not just send them a quick, discreet, Reach Out?
Several of the components of CNA: Edge – SUPPORT, the Check-In Program, the Reach Out feature, and the Leadership Program, not only help your staff better engage with and support new hires, they gather a ton of information that can help you better evaluate how you, your staff, or your facility as a whole is doing at promoting your culture and building up your new employees. I know what you’re thinking — information is great, but who has time to make sense of it all, when we’re already stretched to the limit? Don’t worry, we completely understand, and that’s why we’ve built a Dashboard into our software system that gathers and makes sense of all the information we are collecting. Through this dashboard you’ll be able to see how all of your employees enrolled in the Check-In program are doing and if any of them are at risk. You’ll even be able to identify the specific areas where they are struggling and be provided with action items you can take to help them in these areas. You’ll also be able to monitor the progress of staff enrolled in the Leadership Program. Finally, you’ll have a consolidated list of Reach Outs to analyze and look for trends of where people are struggling. Essentially, we take the hassle of collecting all the data out of your hands and turn that data into insights your organization can use to better your operations.
