Straightaway Health Careers is excited to announce a new product suite named CNA Edge: SUPPORT. This suite of learning and platform tools is designed to help organizations combat workforce turnover by engaging newly hired staff and training your existing workforce to be the champions of positive organizational and cultural change. All the features found in CNA Edge: SUPPORT were designed and built from direct feedback from the post-acute care industry. Countless interviews, site visits, surveys, and questionnaires helped us build this unique product that will help you better support your staff.
Why is SUPPORT important?
It is common knowledge that a big reason people leave their job is because of their relationship with their direct supervisor. Additionally, the younger workforce has vastly different expectations on the job than older generations who dominate leadership positions. Our new Supervisor Leadership Training Program is designed to help your supervisors learn the expectations and values of your newly hired, younger workforce, through the concept of Job Embeddedness. Concrete examples of how supervisors can build better relationships with their employees are provided to give learners actionable information they can apply on the job. The program is delivered through short micro-lessons that include engaging motion graphic video, direct to camera CNA interviews, whiteboards, and infographics.
Another common pitfall we all face is waiting too long to get a pulse on how new employees are feeling when evaluating their satisfaction in early employment. Why should we wait 30, 60, or even 90 days to evaluate how a new employee is adjusting to their new work environment? Doesn’t it make sense to know how the employee is feeling about things like job preparedness, supervisor support, or their intent to stay from the time they start working? Straightaway’s CNA Check-In program allows facilities to check the pulse of their new CNAs from the time they start working through their first 4 months to better identify CNAs at risk of being unhappy and considering leaving. Averaging to two short 2-4 question check-ins per week, the Check-In program is a quick, engaging, and hassle-free way to better understand how your new hires are feeling.
CNA Edge resolves to improve multiple aspects of CNA turnover
A key finding from the extensive interviews and surveys conducted by Straightaway in the post-acute care world revealed something very interesting: often, newly hired CNAs are reluctant to seek out help due to fear of being judged by more experienced CNAs and nursing staff. This can lead to the CNAs feeling alone and isolated, increasing the likelihood they are unhappy and considering searching for employment elsewhere. A simple solution is to offer them an easy way to ask for help discreetly. Our “Help” Button feature on our platform allows your CNAs to request help electronically in a discreet manner, as well as keeps a record of the requests in the system to allow your organization to look for common patterns in where your staff may be struggling.
Another exciting piece of our new CNA Edge: SUPPORT solution is a Mentor Guidelines tool. The tool sends out a mentorship framework each week to mentors and provides them with real-time guidance via text messages or email. Straightaway has also developed a Reporting Dashboard that takes all the data collected through the Check-In Program, “Help” Button requests, and the Leadership Program to provide the most relevant and important information to organizations in a clear and concise fashion.
