Becoming a CNA training site is a time-tested manner of gaining access to a larger pool of staff. However, over time, many operators have eliminated their programs. Given the current difficulties in maintaining the right staffing levels, operators are once again moving toward running their own CNA training sites so as to control their own destiny.
CNA training programs require state regulatory approval, which can seem like a daunting process. Straightaway customers have been approved, or are in the approval process, in 19 states (5 approvals, 14 application submissions). While it definitely takes some paperwork and requires a bit of effort, the process itself isn’t terribly complicated, especially when guided by a team who has done it several times over.
There are 4 key elements required for application submission:
- The materials for the classroom training
- The instructor who will deliver the classroom training
- The instructor / preceptor who will deliver the clinical and skills training
- The space for the classroom and lab work
Having supported application submissions in 19 states, Straightaway has the expertise on streamlining the process and making it as efficient as possible. Even though it is the facility’s program being approved, Straightaway provides support throughout the entire procedure.
Straightaway’s Support Role
What does our support role look like? We are constantly conducting extensive research on the federal and state-specific regulations that dictate the operations of Nurse Aide Training Programs (NATPs). In many cases we have developed relationships with regulatory agencies and state trade associations that support SNF operators. Through this research and these relationships, we are able to provide our customers with our findings that pertain specifically to them.
Additionally, we show the regulators how CNA Edge’s training materials align to the state approved curriculum. This entails a great level of detail; walking regulators through the class schedule and how the course materials fulfill requirements. Straightaway has tailored its courseware to meet the needs of the state-approved curricula in 48 states. We do it so you don’t have to!
Finally, we manage the process as a whole. We are well-versed in handling a regulatory submission from start to finish. When you sign on with Straightaway, our first priority is helping you gain regulatory approval in your state(s) of operation. We do so by providing templates, managing the project schedule, and equipping you with various tools and resources that make it easy.
Next up in this series, we will share some stories that illustrate how to make the approval happen as fast as possible.
